In case you missed the news, I'm leaving zeroheight and joining the Polaris design system team at Shopify. It's sad to part ways with a company filled with talented people and a place that lets me work on really interesting projects, such as this blog! However, I'm super excited about the prospect of getting more hands-on experience with design systems again and coding in general, which are the core reasons for me moving on.

Due to this move, there are a few things that need to be dealt with, such as this blog! The zeroheight team has kindly offered me the opportunity to take it with me. I already owned the domain before I joined, which helped us come to this decision. The Design Systems WTF podcast will continue unaffected, hosted by Luke Murphy from zeroheight and design systems consultant Michelle Chin.

So what now? Well, ideally, I'd like to continue blogging here regularly. There's been a recent blip in consistency, but I think I can comfortably blame a combination of the holidays and new job stuff. The only cost this blog incurs, other than my time, is hosting, which is provided by Magic Pages (who you should totally check out if you want a slick Ghost site like this).

I'm pretty comfortable paying for the upkeep, but if you're feeling generous and appreciate the content I'm sharing, I've turned on a donate button that you can find in the header and footer of the blog. I'm also thinking about more direct ways to help the community; here are some ideas I have:

  • Design systems experts directory
  • Design systems job listing
  • Consultancy and one-to-one sessions

These are just ideas for now. I'm definitely not in pursuit of turning this into a business; I just like this as a place to talk shop. Anywho, that's the big news (not big at all). In the next post, we'll be back to our regular scheduled programming.
